BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP



             Simple and easy and oh so fricking delicious !! 

Butternut squash
potatoes
carrot
celery
onion 

Chop all ingredients. Saute in olive oil till tender. Add water or stock of your choice. Little salt, pepper, cayenne or what tickles your fancy. Blend soup mixture in blender or with hand mixer until smooth texture forms.

Voila !

Green Tips is Hip .... LoVe YoUr PLaNeT



Here are a few tips to practice Loving your Planet !

1. Use hand towels instead of paper towels
2. Reduce paper waste - do banking or bill payments on line
3. TURN IT DOWN - turn thermostat down 1 degree - you're HOT enough on your own
4. LOVE your planet - don't litter
5. TURN IT OFF BABY - your computer, lights, T.V. when not in use
6. ENERGIZE YOURSELF - carpool, take a transit or ride or walk to your destination
7. shorten shower time - only sing ONE song in the shower
8. B.Y.O.B - bring your own bag - use reusable bags to do groceries & make a statement
9. Re-cycle your old yoga mat - use it under a rug, donate to a shelter or school
10. use washable plates & glasses for events rather then disposable ones.
11. LIGHTS OFF - turn unused lights off and stop lighting up your empty room
12. LET IT RAIN- use rain buckets for watering the garden 
13. Practice an attitude of gratitude daily for this beautiful planet we live on !

The Power of Love

February is the month of LOVE. A time to show your appreciation to your loved ones in your life. It can be a challenge juggling our busy lifes' that we lead. We get caught up in our regular routines with family, work or just life in general, and we sometime (including myself) forget about the loved ones in our life we take for granted. It's time to stop and show a little bit of love, compassion & kindness to all the people around you that make your life what it is today. So step back from all the chaos on your to do list, and get on a path to realization that LOVE is all around you and to appreciate it more often. And, how about  taking this practice into each and every aspect of your life. Expression of Love is the key element to inner peace. So break open your heart that is filled with that goodness and let it pour forth.

Here are 3 tips to help you get back to living a life filled with peace through Love.

LOVING KINDNESS

Loving Kindness, also known as Metta, begins at your home and your inner beliefs system. It comes from the root of your being and how you perceive obstacles in your life in a manner of compassion.  And making this practice not just a once a year commitment. Showing simple acts of affections through hugging, a small gesture of placing your arm around someones shoulder, a pat on the back or even a smile can generate good feelings of being loved.  Commit to being kind more often. Not just today but how about everyday. Talking the talk and living from that place of Metta on a daily basis is a key element to expressing the Love that is within each of us.

LOVE YOURSELF
Appreciate the beauty found within yourself  more often. Be happy who you are inside your skin and appreciate the goodness that you are of made of. If you don't love who you are, how can you love others. So take time to indulge in just being happy being you. Treat your self to something special. May it be a nature walk in solitude, or maybe treating yourself to a pedi or mani or even a massage. How about treating yourself to a matinee play and indulge in a little bit of me time. Take those moments of just being in stillness with yourself and being ok with it and practicing saying something positive about yourself to yourself more often and then share your goodness with everyone around you. Love yourself from the inside out. Be happy being you.

RANDOM DEEDS OF KINDNESS
Expressing random deeds of kindness is a motto we can always follow. Try doing something special today for someone you know or don't know, that can use an extra dose of Love and Kindness sent there way. And then note how you feel afterwards. These small notions of doing something kind randomly can move someones day in the right direction. These small gestures of affection, can do wonders knowing someone cares and loves you. Practicing random deeds of kindness is an opportunity to do something kind for someone else, to appreciate someone to the fullest and expecting nothing back in return.

So instead of just acknowledging your loved ones during the Month of February. How about taking this beautiful emotion we all share within us into our life, into our world and live in this manner on a daily basis. Showing and expressing love by giving, sharing, and receiving is a key element to breaking open some built up frustrations & tensions that we face on a daily basis. Express your love regularly to your loved ones verbally or by pyhysical touch often. Practicing loving kindness and self love and allow your heart to expand and shine bright. Find love within and express it like you've never expressed it before. A heart that is filled with Love for yourself and Love for others. A place of Love is where the Heart lies. Let it burst and expand to the point of illumination.
